For the third year in a row, Riot Games will take a week off to celebrate the summer holidays. All developers, except those working in vital departments, will be on rest, resulting in changes from the studio’s usual schedule.

Like all workers around the world, Riot Games employees are also going on vacation, and the company has held a general break this week. Since last Friday, the vast majority of developers have been away and won’t be back until July 11. At least, all but those who work in the departments essential to the smooth running of the studio’s games. Employees in the live operations or anti-cheat department will need to stagger their breaks to keep everything running smoothly.

How does this hiatus affect League of Legends?

League of Legends and other video games from Riot Games will not receive updates, but will continue to function as normal. In the case of MOBA, the situation is a little more particular. As the game comes out of one of the biggest changes in its history thanks to the durability update, Riot Games has prepared a special patch called 12.12b — an update that introduced urgent balancing. The next major update will arrive with patch 12.13 — scheduled for Wednesday, July 13 according to Riot’s official schedule.

Back from vacation, developers must prepare for a period rich in novelties. In addition to the arrival of Nilah and the Star Guardians event, League of Legends should welcome the Udyr revamp and potential big changes to Gangplank. Also, the competitive season is nearing the end of its summer segment and that always makes developers rush to get the game ready with all the changes it needs for the big league playoffs like the LEC or Worlds.

Ultimately, players shouldn’t notice the absence of the developers during their vacation week. If there are major issues that hamper the gameplay experience — and this applies to all of the company’s titles — there will be enough staff to fix them.. It is true that the next updates will be a little delayed, but it is better that all employees are well rested so that they can provide the best possible experience for players when they return.

A player made a funny discovery. According to his research, the Scuttler, one of the neutral monsters in the jungle in League of Legends, would have a defect in terms of crowd control, a defect that could be a handicap in securing the objective.
