Between the September 23 and 28, the fate of several French League of Legends teams could well change. During these few days, the promotion tournament will be played to access the LFL Div 2, the royal road to the professional world. 4 teams are involved: 2 teams from Div 2 who must defend their place and 2 teams from the Mastercard Nexus Tour.
The stakes are high, especially for the “little ones” who, in the event of victory, will be able to take a step forward and take on a new dimension. The players will be motivated like never before and while the European elite operates on a closed franchise system, the fans are always delighted to find the incomparable emotion conveyed by the Up&Down.
The two teams from the Mastercard Nexus Tour
- Viv Esports : this team has shown incredible consistency this year, scoring points at every stage of the Mastercard Nexus Tour. She collected 2525 points during the circuit and it’s not really a surprise to find her at this level. It now remains to be seen whether this regularity will be enough to rock the other competitors.
- Infamous SoloQ Players : funny story than that of the Infamous SoloQ Players. This group of heterogeneous players surprised everyone this year, finishing in 2nd place in the points race (2500 points). He had started the year in a thunderous way by winning stages 2 and 3 of the MNT back-to-back. The follow-up was less brilliant and during stage 7, the team failed to score points. But she rebounded well during the playoffs and we can’t wait to see if the exotic player pool champion will manage to make her opponents doubt.
The two Div 2 teams
- FC Nantes : the Canaries have not had an easy year in League of Legends. In the spring, they collected only 3 small victories in Div 2. The summer was more encouraging with 6 victories, but the team still remained blocked in the bottom of the classification. On paper, it still has quality players like Vichen or Numandiel who should make the difference. But with stress, there is no certainty that holds.
- beGenius : the little Genies changed faces many times during the year. We no longer count the players who were used during the season… This instability did not help and weighed on the team’s results. Before the Up&Down, the leaders made 4 changes. Enough to keep the team afloat?
