Long era comes to an end – Mayor resigns after 11,953 days in office

For 32 years, eight months and 20 days, Wilhelm Pammer was in charge of the Gerersdorf-Sulz community in the Güssing district. One of the long-serving mayors is going into well-deserved retirement at the end of the month. Now farewell was celebrated.

Pammer was already active in the local council from 1982. He became mayor on February 11, 1989. The era ends on Sunday. For more than 32 years, the ÖVP local chief worried about the well-being of the residents in Gerersdorf-Sulz.

He experienced the fall of the Iron Curtain as well as Austria’s accession to the EU in 1995, including the new opportunities in the middle of the Objective 1 area.

Soon choice of successor
Pammer has always avoided political trench warfare. “I am proud of the open-air museum as an attraction for guests,” says the father of three. After exactly 11,953 days in office, Pammer retires.

Vice-Mayor Roman Jandrisevits will take over the role until the election of a successor in the local council on November 4th.
