Deployed since the beginning of February 2022 in Europe and America, Lost Ark has offered since its launch a very clear distribution of classes on our Western servers. Just over a month after its release on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, we’re finally analyzing which of the 18 available classes players have chosen to go for.
Notes: The percentages are approximate and have been rounded off for ease of reading, making the totals inaccurate since they are approximate. It is a question of very small variations, nothing very important, but it should be specified all the same!
Popularity of each Lost Ark archetype
First, it is interesting to analyze the distribution of players according to each of the 5 archetypes accessible in game. We have more or less arbitrarily chosen a server from Western Europe and one from Central Europe in order to illustrate our remarks and we get an idea of the situation on all the European servers since they are very similar on most of them.
Here is the precise data that we were able to collect during our research, including some obtained from the Valtan server in North America (West) in order to compare trends from one region to another, all from from the home page of the servers concerned:
On the European side, we notice a strong trend for the Warrior and the Mage, without much surprise. However, the other archetypes remain relatively equal in terms of representativeness, although much weaker than the two at the top of the ranking. It is mainly on the American side that the trend towards archetypes, and more precisely to classes, called “meta” is felt. A little thought to our Martialist and Sniper friends…
Popularity of each class in Lost Ark
To get an idea of the most played classes, we proceeded in the same way but refining our research using the data provided once we arrived in Trixion, at the start of the game. on the other side of Europe since it is by far the Berserker (Warrior) who wins hands down with more than a third of the characters embodying this class, followed by some distance by the Witch (Mage) with between 18% and more than 20% depending on the server.
This is easily explained not only by the power of these two classes, but also by their great “banality” if one can say: everyone knows what a Warrior or a Mage is in an MMO, this are the basic choices almost by default!
The other classes are relatively all valued at the same value relative to each other, with the exception of the Bloodblade and the Warlock, two classes of the Assassin archetype, followed very closely by the Paladin (Warrior).
Trends that are not very surprising in the end: the idea of playing a powerful demon or assassin slashing his enemies with two huge blades is as appreciated by the general public as that of playing a valiant knight in the service of light!
Here is the data rounded to the hundredth that we were able to collect during our research, again including data collected on the Valtan server in North America (West):
When we tell you that the “meta” is wreaking havoc, we rarely laugh… But there, it gives food for thought all the same! Our American friends seem to have taken the tier-lists a little too literally, although we Europeans are not perfect examples in this area. Or, we are simply very unoriginal and like the “basic” classes of the Heroic Fantasy universes. Both theories are plausible, and the truth probably lies, as often, halfway between the two!
