A 17-year-old skier had to be flown from the Hochzillertal ski area near Kaltenbach to the Innsbruck clinic on Friday afternoon with the emergency doctor helicopter. The youth had crashed head-on into a snow-making lance.
The accident happened just after 2 p.m. The 17-year-old from Germany was skiing on a blue slope and lost control of his skis. The winter sports enthusiast became faster and faster and then crashed into a snow lance on the edge of the slope. The lance was covered with a protective mat, but the youth was seriously injured by the force of the impact.
