Lost control – skier crashed into snow lance with full force

A 17-year-old skier had to be flown from the Hochzillertal ski area near Kaltenbach to the Innsbruck clinic on Friday afternoon with the emergency doctor helicopter. The youth had crashed head-on into a snow-making lance.

The accident happened just after 2 p.m. The 17-year-old from Germany was skiing on a blue slope and lost control of his skis. The winter sports enthusiast became faster and faster and then crashed into a snow lance on the edge of the slope. The lance was covered with a protective mat, but the youth was seriously injured by the force of the impact. After initial treatment by the piste rescue service and the emergency doctor, the patient was admitted to the Innsbruck Clinic
