Lothar Matthäus: Former world footballer is now grandpa

Former soccer world champion Lothar Matthäus has become a grandfather. His grandson was born in early September.

Lothar Matthäus (59) is grandpa! His daughter Alisa (34) gave birth to his son Samo on September 8th in Munich. She and her fiancé Dominik Hoffmann (34) confirmed this to the magazine "Bunte". "We feel wonderful as new parents. The whole family is deeply in love," she says. And he adds: At the moment the little one still looks like him, but "let's see what he saw from mom".

The couple has already thought about their upbringing: "It is important to us that Samo has all the freedom. A big family

Little Samo was born into a large and extensive family. Because his grandfather Lothar Matthäus is now in his fifth marriage (since 2014) to the 27 years younger Russian Anastasia Klimko. The two have a son (born in 2014). Before that, from 2009 to 2011 he was married to the native Ukrainian Liliana Matthäus (32) and to the Serbian Marijana Kostic (49) from 2003 to 2008. The former professional footballer was married to the Swiss Lolita Morena (59) from 1994 to 1999 . He also has a son with her (born 1992).

With his first wife Silvia (1981-1992, 60), the soccer world champion from 1990 had two daughters Alisa and Viola (32). Grandma Silvia is also overjoyed about the offspring. "This child is so welcome in our family. We all love Samo from the bottom of our hearts," she enthuses.
