Lots of registrations – significant increase in vaccination readiness in Upper Austria

The number of booked and administered corona vaccinations has risen rapidly in Upper Austria in the past few days. After a temporary decrease in the number of vaccination appointments booked daily from almost 3000 to just over 1000 at the end of October, their number exploded by the end of this week. Almost 8,000 registrations were registered on Friday, which means that the value has increased more than tenfold since the beginning of October.

In view of the “very positive, increasing trend movements” in vaccinations carried out and booked, the state’s crisis team confirmed “intensive preparations to further expand vaccination capacities in Upper Austria”. In the past two weeks, “the number of first and third vaccinations given has almost doubled”. The reason for this is likely to be the 2G regulation that became apparent at the end of last week and has now been adopted nationwide.

More than twice as many people who want to be vaccinated
The mobile vaccination infrastructure is also increasingly used in Upper Austria. The previous seven-day record of 6937 pop-up vaccinations, dating from last week, was set on Friday and even broken with 7145 doses administered in mobile vaccination practices. The total number of pop-up vaccinations carried out in Upper Austria is now 62,739, and the trend is rising sharply, as the crisis team reported yesterday evening: “The statistics on the pop-up vaccination numbers over the last four weeks show a significant increase in the number of walk-in vaccinations available” . More than twice as many people who want to be vaccinated than in mid-October recently used the mobile vaccination infrastructure.

According to a broadcast from the state on Sunday, the infrastructure and available capacities for the corona vaccination are to be gradually increased in the coming days and weeks: “New vaccination dates will be activated and the pop-up vaccination offer will be continuously updated”. Temporary vaccination routes are to be set up in selected clinics from the middle of next week, and a nationwide vaccination campaign is planned for the coming weekend. Starting next Tuesday, more than 100 ordinations and practices of resident doctors will take part in one of these: a total of 6,000 vaccinations should be able to be administered between 4 and 6 p.m. on Thursday. Governor Thomas Stelzer was determined: “We want to do everything we can to significantly increase the vaccination rate in Upper Austria. Every additional vaccination is a contribution to preventing a lockdown ”.

Of the corona patients hospitalized in Upper Austria, almost 60 percent are not fully immunized in the normal care wards, and even two thirds in the intensive care units. The exit restrictions in the districts affected are to be lifted at the beginning of next week due to the nationwide tightening of measures towards the 2G regulation.
