Lotus Emeya: the new electric sedan that wants to take on the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan

Passed under the bosom of the Chinese Geely, the Lotus brand now aims to become a must in electric sports. To these ends, it announced its roadmap for its electric transition with three projects:

  • Type 132, an E-segment SUV now known as the Lotus Eletre
  • Type 133, an E-segment sedan scheduled for 2024
  • Type 134, a D-segment SUV planned for 2025

The Type 132 project finally gave birth to the Lotus Eletre, a luxury SUV intended to grab market share from Tesla and its Model X. During a video teaser, the brand formalized the name given to its Type project 133 as well as a date of presentation. We know that the electric sedan will be called Emeya.

An ultra-sporty sedan on a known basis

Based on the same EPA (Electric Premium Architecture) platform as the brand’s SUV, the Lotus Emeya should display similar characteristics starting with engine power, 603 horsepower for the S version and 905 horsepower for the R version, all backed by a 112kWh battery and super fast charging peaking at 355kW.

Obviously, the plethora of features and technologies present on the Lotus Eletre will also be required to provide all the advantages of a car costing more than €100,000.

While waiting for September 7, Lotus is keeping us waiting with a short video showing the design of its next sports sedan, which is sure to make some of the brand’s purists scream.
