Love against the wall on Netflix: does this romantic comedy deserve 1h30 of your life?

Currently 4th in the Netflix top, L’amour au pied du mur is a Spanish romantic comedy which is none other than the remake of a French film from 2015. Is it worth a look?

What is it about ?

Valentina, a young pianist, takes control of her life. David, his inventor neighbor, needs silence to concentrate. Will love manage to break through the common wall that separates them?

What there is to know

It’s not easy to choose from the Netflix catalog between new features and additions, but the top 10 is a good tool for knowing what is most watched by subscribers. This week, it’s the Spanish romantic comedy L’amour au pied du mur which ranks among the best students.

This is the remake of Un peu, much, blindly, a 2015 French film written, directed and directed by Clovis Cornillac in which the actor falls under the spell of Mélanie Bernier. With its 500,000 theatrical admissions and rather good returns, this romantic comedy was particularly popular for its distribution but also for the originality of its scenario. Enough in any case to be offered to other studios around the world.

Clovis Cornillac’s film will have two remakes: a Korean version My Worst Neighbor released last year and the Spanish remake, which we are going to tell you about today.

What did subscribers think?

Some AlloCiné spectators have already given Love at the Wall a chance. With an average rating of 2.2 out of 5 for only 26 ratings, the film is far from having convinced them:

“Not bad but the original version, A LITTLE MUCH BLINDLY is much better, with its woody Allen air, Cornillac and Bernier are so incredible” (Patrick Van Troost)

“A copy and paste of A LITTLE MUCH BLINDLY, much less well. The acting is really subpar.” (Morgan Le Hir)

“Netflix has just hit a wall… by wanting to remake the French film “a little too much blindly” which is a nugget and really unlike this one. 2 minutes to see acting that touches the depths of the abyss and jokes that are not.” (Marwan el Niser)

“A nice little Spanish romcom. I really liked the concept. The couple has a lot of charm and the soundtrack is pretty good. A no-brainer film which is easy to watch, but which is quickly forgotten.” (Lyah)

Why might you like it?

An adorable little romantic comedy, Love Against the Wall features two promising actors who share an undeniable chemistry even without sharing the screen: Aitana and Fernando Guallar manage to create that little spark that we look for in a production of this genre. If you are a romcom fan, then you don’t risk anything by starting the film which only lasts 1h30.

You can be lulled by the few notes of Beethoven that we hear in the film or by the voice of its main heroine, a Spanish music star, who is a lovely discovery. And the nice surprise of Love Against the Wall is the presence in the casting of Miguel Ángel Muñoz, the former actor of Un dos tres!
