For many candidates, Love is in the meadow is the start of a beautiful story. Over the 18 seasons of the program, many have been able to find the right fit and begin a new chapter of life filled with happiness. Dozens of marriages, and babies, were born following the passage of M6 among the farmers! But for others, unfortunately, the experience was more bitter. This is particularly the case of Bastien, one of Julien’s two suitors, the cow breeder of this 2023 edition. After five days spent with the farmer, he finally left the farm. It was Thibault, his rival, who was chosen to stay. And the least we can say is that the farewells were not the most cordial. Indeed, Julien and Bastien fell out somewhat. “I’m glad you’re going”the breeder had declared to his suitor, who then left without a word.

Wednesday November 1, 2023, a little over a week after this stormy departure, Bastien spoke in the columns of the newspaper The New Republic. The 43-year-old architect returned to his unpleasant journey on the show, and was not short of criticism of the two men with whom he stayed. “I found myself face to face with two people, Julien and Thibault, who didn’t want things to go well, they wanted to harm me”he assures, explaining that he experienced “a very complicated week”. Bastien considers himself “remained diplomatic” although the farmer “wasn’t exactly like the profile he presented”. Furthermore, as viewers may have noticed, relations with his competitor were not the most friendly: “Thibault saw me as an opponent to beat, he was really in a competition but for me it had no meaning. I didn’t set out to do a reality show Like on W9.”
Without mincing his words, Bastien says he had a difficult time with this filming, which ended for him on April 5, 2023. “I left the farm in particularly violent conditions but I have to stick to the images that were released. I was asked to pack my bags in three minutes and leave the house. It was unprecedented on the show”, he reveals to our colleagues. Indeed, the former suitor of Love is in the meadow must have even been “supported by production” as his experience was “violent”.

If, however, he reassures by declaring that “things fade over time”Bastien evokes a “double punishment” when it comes to rewatching these difficult times on television. “I didn’t necessarily watch the episodes”, he specifies. Despite all these bad sides, the architect was able to extract a beautiful story from his time on M6. Not love, but friendship. Indeed, he has “kept a real bond with Thomas”Julien’s third suitorwho was not selected after the speed dating: “He was a shoulder capable of understanding and hearing because I couldn’t talk to others about it.” Finally, today, Bastien is recovering from this bad experience. He thus “met someone since”with whom he shares “a very good intellectual alchemy”. The little extra? “He is a total stranger to the program, he did not want to watch the show” and therefore got to know him directly.
