LREM elected officials sponsor Emmanuel Macron, even if he is not a candidate

Elected officials have shared in recent days on social networks the sending to the Constitutional Council of their sponsorship for the presidential election. Some have declared themselves in favor of President Emmanuel Macron, yet still not an official candidate for his succession.

“I sponsored Emmanuel Macron this morning for the presidential election”, notably posted Vincent Chauvet, mayor La République en Marche (LREM) of Autun (Saône-et-Loire).

Several other elected officials have announced their choice on social networks, including the deputy of the Channel Bertrant Sorre.

Last Wednesday, the Council of Ministers adopted the decree convening voters for the presidential election in April, which formally opens the race for the 500 sponsorships that the contenders for the Elysée must bring together to stand for election.

The outgoing president has not yet officially announced his candidacy for the next presidential election.

However, La République en Marche announced Thursday the creation of the site “avecvous2022.fr”, in order to support the candidacy of the president.
