As the Lucerne police confirmed on request, there was a major operation at Lucerne train station early Tuesday morning. The reason for this was that an ATM was blown, as it was initially called. Media spokesman Christian Bertschi explains that shortly after three o’clock they received a report about an incident at the train station.

“It is not entirely clear what kind of substance we are dealing with,” says Bertschi. “We have closed the station and our specialists are on duty.” It is not yet possible to say how dangerous the substances that were used are. “We don’t yet know whether it’s gas or explosives. That is why we cannot rule out that our emergency services could endanger themselves. ” Rescue workers from Zurich are also involved in the operation.
