PROCÉDÉS HALLIER, a subsidiary of the LUCIBEL group dedicated to lighting for museums and cultural institutions, presented, ahead of its participation in the International Museum Exhibition (SITEM) on April 3 and 4, 2024, a new innovative camera model. This unique lighting device, the “Marco Polo”, is the result of close collaboration between the LUCIBEL Research & Development teams and two engineers specializing in precision museum lighting, Jean-Pierre MIRAS and Marco ANGELINI.
Designed by these two engineers who were responsible for highlighting the Mona Lisa, the Marco Polo was born from a reflection on curatorial lighting led by experts. Drawing on the know-how of the PROCEDES HALLIER design team on LED lighting, Jean-Pierre MIRAS and Marco ANGELINI have contributed their experience of lighting some of the most prestigious works in the world – s extending from the paintings of Van Gogh to the Venus de Milo -, in order to develop a cameraman of unprecedented power.
This concentrate of technology nicknamed “
light booster
» enhances the colors of the works which it illuminates with a combination of configurable spectra via a dedicated application. Through an extremely precise balance of contrasts, Marco Polo increases the saturation in targeted areas, intensifying the depth of dark tones or even changing the color temperature of the works.
A revitalization tool, Marco Polo also makes it possible to restore the singularity of a chromatic range initially desired by the artist but whose liveliness has faded over time. As such, its use is also intended for institutions wishing to anticipate material restoration work by previously reconstituting the original brilliance of the works using light.
