Ludger Stratmann passed away unexpectedly. The cult cabaret artist from the Ruhr area was 73 years old.

Ludger Stratmann (1948-2021) is dead. The cult comedian from the Ruhr area, known as “Doktor Stratmann”, died unexpectedly on Wednesday in his house in Bottrop, as confirmed by family members of the “WAZ”. Stratmann was 73 years old.

Program planned in own theater

Stratmann worked as a doctor until 1998, and since 1994 he has been tinkering with his career as a comedian. In the Amerikahaus in Essen he opened “Stratmanns Theater Europahaus” with his brother, and from July 1995 he performed with the program “Doktor Stratmanns – cheerful medical cabaret”. On September 25th the program “Doctor Stratmann – Dat Schönste zum 25.” to be performed for the 25th anniversary of the stage.

Through numerous appearances, especially in “Stratmanns” on WDR, but also in programs such as “Mitternachtsspitzen” or “7 Tage, 7 Köpfe”, Stratmann achieved nationwide fame. In 2017 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
