Lukashenko claims Belarusian planes have been refitted to carry nuclear weapons

Aug 26 (Reuters) – Alexander Lukashenko said on Friday Belarusian SU-24 warplanes had been refitted to carry nuclear weapons.

Speaking to journalists, the Belarusian president said he had previously agreed on this decision with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Minsk does not have its own nuclear weapons but has allied itself with Moscow and authorizes the use of its territory by Russia in the context of the conflict in Ukraine. (Reporting Reuters; French version Alizée Degorce, editing by Kate Entringer)
