Dominic Stricker hires the German, who has already looked after well-known players on the WTA tour.
On the fringes of the Challenger tournament in Biel, Dominic Stricker announced that he would be working with Dieter Kindlmann in the future. The 40-year-old German has made a name for himself on the tour: he coached his compatriot Angelique Kerber, former number 1 in the women’s race, and for a short time also current number 2 Aryna Sabalenka (BLR).
Kindlmann replaces Sven Swinnen as the main coach of the 20-year-old Swiss. Swinnen will take on other talents at Swiss Tennis. “I’m extremely hungry, I’m really up for this task,” Kindlmann said Aargau newspaper quote.
Lundgren as a supplement?
Since the beginning of March, Peter Lundgren has also been part of Stricker’s team on a trial basis. The role of the Swede, who once mentored Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka, is to be definitely determined after next week’s Challenger tournament in Lille. However, Lundgren will probably act more in an advisory capacity if the cooperation is continued.
Stricker (ATP 118) is targeting the top 100 this year. “He has a good chance of making it and moving forward from there,” Lundgren attests.
