The two parties have signed the contracts for the transfer of the channel, provided that the merger between TF1 and M6 be accepted by the regulatory authorities.

The marriage of the TF1 and M6 groups, announced almost a year ago, will cause a slight upheaval in the habits of French viewers.

If the operation is still studied by both the Competition Authority and Arcom (ex-CSA), we know that the two audiovisual groups had to separate from certain channels. Indeed, Arcom imposes a maximum number of seven channels owned by a single company. TF1 and M6 combine a total of 10 frequencies.

The decision was therefore taken to withdraw Paris Première from DTT and to sell the 6ter and TFX channels, and the Altice group showed interest in taking over these two channels. It is now done with the signing of the transfer contracts this Friday, April 8.

Altice will however have to wait for the decision of the regulatory authorities for the sale to be effectively recorded. For the time being, TFX and 6ter remain under the control of their respective owners and nothing should change for viewers’ habits until at least the end of 2022.
