An embarrassing typo reveals a woman with a forged vaccination certificate

An American woman wanted to avoid the quarantine in Hawaii with a forged vaccination card. In her attempt to cheat, however, she made a very obvious mistake.
For a long time the vaccination card was very inconspicuous, but in these times it has become one of the most important documents of all. Anyone who can show a vaccination against Covid-19 in (or digitally) can travel or undertake other activities that are not allowed for unvaccinated people.
Of course, this also calls for fraudsters. A woman was caught trying to enter Hawaii with a forged vaccination card. However, the 24-year-old American did not get very far: She was turned away during the control at the airport. Detecting the forgery was apparently not difficult for the inspectors. The woman misspelled the name of the vaccine.
A spelling mistake in the vaccination card reveals a forgery
In her fake entry, she had quoted “Maderna” instead of the Moderna vaccine – a fairly obvious mistake. According to KITV TV station, she was arrested and bailed for $ 2,000. In the worst case, she could face a year in prison and a fine of up to $ 5,000. Apparently, the woman wanted to bypass the quarantine when entering Hawaii. Unvaccinated travelers are required to isolate themselves for ten days after arrival. However, this rule no longer applies to those who have been vaccinated.
In Hawaii, the number of people hospitalized with Covid-19 is rising again. David Ige, Governor of Hawaii, therefore asked all tourists to postpone their trips if possible: “Now is not a good time to travel to the islands.” Visits to Hawaii should only be made for “essential business activities”. According to Iges, the hospitals have already reached their capacity limits, so it is important to act now.
