Mafia: Hangar 13 confirms that it is working on a new episode, but it is not for now

License Mafia celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year, which does not make us any younger. To celebrate this anniversary, several developers from the studio Shed 13 gathered to evoke the memories around this license, while evoking in passing the future of the latter. The opportunity for them to confirm that yes, a new episode of Mafia is in preparationas Kotaku had already pointed out several times.

An announcement that does not surprise anyone, but it is at least confirmed

It wasn’t really a secret anymore. Hangar 13 was known to have been working on a new Mafia for some time, despite laying off 50 employees. According to Kotaku, this project would be a prequel to the series and would use the Unreal Engine 5 engine. This is not confirmed by Hangar 13 directly, but the studio does indicate that it is working on a new opus.

Here is what it says Roman Hladikgeneral manager of the studio:

I’m happy to confirm that we have started working on a brand new Mafia project! Even if it will take a few more years and while we can’t say more at this time, we’re excited to continue working on this franchise we love, and bringing brand new stories to our players. »

It will therefore be noted that the project is still not very advanced, because it will not arrive for a few years, but at least it exists.
