Magic Editor for Google Photos: AI now fixes your holiday pictures

With the Magic Editor from Google Photos you should be able to correct typical mistakes you make with holiday photos. The tool could soon make its debut on the Pixel 8.

You just don’t want to get the perfect holiday photo? Sometimes the weather is too bad, sometimes someone is walking around in the background or the subject wasn’t centered when you pulled the trigger – Google Photos now offers a solution for all these problems: the Magic Editor.

Google announced the AI-based tool at its Google I/O developer conference. This not only offers the “magic eraser” already known from Pixel cell phones, but also other options for correcting the errors mentioned at the beginning. This allows you to reposition objects in the image. Missing image sections are generated by the AI.

If the sky is too dark, it can also be brightened with the Magic Editor. The following video included in the tweet gives you a brief overview of the possibilities:

The Magic Editor is scheduled to be available on select Pixel phones later in the year. These could be the upcoming Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
