The cycling scene is again shaken by a serious accident. The American mountain bike talent Magnus White crashes into a car during a training ride and dies. It is the third fatality in cycling in recent weeks.

The 17-year-old mountain bike athlete Magnus White died in an accident during a training ride. The American died on Saturday near the town of Boulder, Colorado after a collision with a car. This was announced by the cycling association of the USA. White was preparing for the upcoming World Championships in Glasgow, where he wanted to take part in the junior competitions.

The association described him as a “rising star”. He won the junior national cyclocross championships in 2021 and then spent a season racing in Europe with the national team before competing at the World Championships in Arkansas last year.

Fatal accidents happen again and again in cycling. In June, the Swiss professional cyclist Gino Mäder died after a fall at the Tour de Suisse. The 26-year-old fell on the descent from the Albula Pass to the destination of La Punt, fell into a ravine and was seriously injured. According to a report, Mäder was lying motionless in the water when the rescue workers arrived. He then had to be revived and flown to a clinic in Chur.

Just over a week ago, a 17-year-old young Italian driver also had an accident after a serious fall on the Juniors’ Tour of Upper Austria. He fell during the stage from Haid to Marchtrenk on the descent from Mistelbacher Berg. He was immediately treated by race doctors and then flown to the Kepler University Hospital in Linz by rescue helicopter. He succumbed to his injuries the following night.
