A soldier – attached to the Fontevraud camp, in Maine-et-Loire – was found dead at home, suffering from several stab wounds, said the prosecutor of the Republic of Saumur this Saturday, January 1. A man was arrested the same day.
The body of the young woman – with multiple knife wounds – was found on Saturday, early in the morning, in Bellevigne-les-Châteaux, near Saumur, on the landing of a small building, in the common areas.
“The alleged perpetrator has been arrested, the trail of a feminicide is privileged,” said the prosecutor of the Republic of Saumur, Alexandra Verron, shortly before noon, without giving more details on the profile of the suspect.
“The facts date back a few hours,” she said earlier, adding that an investigation had been opened and that the investigators were moving towards the trail of femicide. The attacker is still wanted by the gendarmes.
“The victim lived in a rental residence with regular residents. I did not know her ”, indicated the mayor of this commune of more than 3,400 inhabitants, Armel Froger, who went there around 6:30 am.
