Major damage – flying sparks: car burst into flames in the garage

Several fire departments had to respond to a fire in a garage in Telfs in Tyrol on Wednesday. A car was on fire there. Apparently the fire started due to flying sparks during welding work. The car owner (73) tried to put out the fire.

At around 12 p.m. the alarm was raised because a fire had broken out in the garage of an apartment building. According to initial findings, a 73-year-old local said he was doing welding work on his vehicle. Sparks flew and the seat cushions of the vehicle caught fire. The vehicle burned out completely. The fire quickly spread to the entire vehicle. The 73-year-old tried to put out the fire, but quickly realized that he couldn’t do anything anymore. The fire departments of Telfs, Pfaffenhofen and Rietz responded with 65 emergency services and ten vehicles. Likewise, several rescue teams. The operation took its toll on the Florianijungers. First it had to be assumed that there was a gas bottle in the garage. Luckily that wasn’t the case. However, the fire brigades were no longer able to prevent the vehicle from burning out. The damage is correspondingly great. However, no one was injured in the fire.
