You don’t need much to be able to make apple cider vinegar yourself – except maybe patience. The approach, on the other hand, is done quickly and we’ll show you how to do it!

This is how you can make apple cider vinegar yourself – from apples

The preparation time only takes a few minutes, while the fermentation takes several weeks. A little So you need patience for homemade vinegar, but you know what is included – and homemade always tastes better, right ?!

You need this for about 2 liters of apple cider vinegar

  • 4 large apples (preferably organic quality)
  • water
  • Kitchen towel
  • bowl
  • Glasses
  • Sealable bottles for filling

Make apple cider vinegar yourself: step by step

  1. Wash the apples thoroughly.
  2. Then cut them into cubes and place them in a large bowl.
  3. Now fill the bowl with cold water until the apple pieces are about 2 cm covered.
  4. Place a kitchen towel over the bowl, possibly fix it with a rubber band.
  5. Put the bowl in a cool place and leave it there for a week.
  6. Stir once a day.
  7. If foam has formed at the top, sieve the mixture over a kitchen towel and pour it into clean, aseptic, for example, preserving jars.
  8. Tip: If you add about 2 tablespoons of sugar to the mixture, the foam forms faster.
  9. Just cover the jars with a cloth and let ferment in a warm place.
  10. After about five to six weeks, the mother of vinegar, a gel-like mass, should have formed.
  11. You can strain off the vinegar and use it for a new approach or discard it. Finally, fill the vinegar into sealable bottles and let it ripen for a few more weeks.

The method using brandy is much faster than using fresh apples.

Ingredients for apple cider vinegar made from brandy

  • 4 small apples
  • 1 liter of brandy vinegar
  • Bulbous vessel

Make apple cider vinegar yourself from brandy: this is how it works!

  1. Peel the apples and cut into small cubes.
  2. Put this in a bulbous bottle.
  3. Now fill it up with the brandy vinegar and seal the bottle.
  4. Let everything rest in a cool place for about three weeks.
  5. Now it is ready to use!
