Malibu: Urbanista’s new portable speaker recharges with solar energy

The Urbanista brand may not mean anything to you, but it is a pioneer in terms of solar charging on audio products, like its Los Angeles headphones and its Phoenix headphones. This time, the Swedish firm is integrating, for the first time, this particular charging function into a portable speaker: the Malibu.

The announced autonomy would be about thirty hours without exposure to the sun. An operating time that could be extended up to 45 hours in direct sunlight. A USB-C port is still there in case the weather is not the most clement. In addition, the Urbanista app allows you to precisely monitor the state of charge of the speaker in real time.

Otherwise, the Malibu is a completely conventional speaker. Certified IP67 and therefore waterproof, it has a robust design allowing it to withstand many shocks. It is possible to pair two Malibus to obtain a stereo system. Four buttons are present on the top to easily control the speaker. The Malibu will be released next September at a price of €169.
