The 22-year-old beat his 8-month-old Beagle to death last May. He was finally sentenced to prison on September 21, 2021.
The facts date back to May 6: it all started when several residents of the 15th arrondissement of Paris called the police after hearing a dog howling. Arriving on site, the police then found the puppy dying after being beaten by its owner. It was hanging on the fence in the condominium parking lot and ended up succumb to his many wounds. The suspect, who had fled, was quickly arrested by the police.
The latter had at the time explained having beaten his puppy – which he had bought only a few weeks earlier, on a classifieds site – to death for a trivial story of bitten electronic cigarette battery. Prosecuted not only for “acts of cruelty and serious mistreatment of a pet resulting in death “, but also for “contempt of a person holding public authority“, given that he had insulted a policewoman while in police custody, he risked two years’ imprisonment and a € 30,000 fine.

The hearing was held on July 6, 2021 at the Paris judicial court, without the presence of the main interested party, who preferred not to attend the hearing and to be represented by his lawyer. The judgment had been reserved and the court decision was finally rendered on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. Verdict: the young man of 22 years was sentenced to four months in prison and also received the definitive ban on keeping an animal according to information disclosed by the Parisian.
