Manga: Ender Geister, review and discovery

Synopsis

In a world where trolls, goblins, witches and other mythical monsters mingle with the population, Michael, a very famous exorcist and of German origin, is given the mission to face them in the four corners of the world. This story seems innocuous, at least for a fiction, but it was without counting on its particular attraction: an overflowing love for action cinema.

When he was sent to Japan, it was an opportunity for him to take on a new pseudonym, Akira Kurosawa. Yet Michael is about to embark on a quest that will far exceed anything he has experienced before, even going as far as upset the global balance.

ender geister, published on Cycomi, offers an alternative to webtoons by offering online chapters with a non-linear and well-proportioned layout to satisfy all readers. The series is also free from the constraints of paper magazines, allowing for the inclusion of violent and sexual scenes.

ENDER GEISTER T01 _060-061

Editorial review

Far from the usual classics, ender geister is distinguished by an atypical screenplay direction whose codes, well put together, allow certain freedoms in all subtlety. First, the story rubs shoulders with the classics, at least in its genre, with an enigmatic character in a world populated by fantastic creatures and just as indistinguishable.

This is where the first feature of the manga comes in, which offers a perfect balance between mysteries and explanations, to give the reader time to ask questions without making the information inaccessible.

In fact, although the characters or the world around them are governed by laws and standards which are, at first sight, hidden from us, they are revealed gradually and in a fluid continuityletting the story take its course with ease.

The second point on which it is interesting to dwell is of course the quality of the drawings and the ease with which the draftsman is able tointegrate violence and sexuality without offending the reader’s discerning eye. At the crossroads between simplified drawings, leaving room for characters alone on white background, and the accentuation of details such as the layout of a city and/or situations, compiled with heterogeneous and sometimes dissenting boxes, make it a whole fun to read and watch.

The designer also plays on this point by sublimating the smallest detail to allow himself to insert hemoglobin or sexualized body forms without them becoming vulgar. The fights are dissected and do not lose the reader going so far as to put in advance the power or the violence of these.

ENDER GEISTER T01 _058-059
ender geister is thus a very pleasant manga to read where each situation offers its share of surprises and intriguestaking us carefree through the pages, provided we appreciate a screenplay genre and graphic style very detailed.

Finally, although the protagonist’s attraction to action films seems like an important point of the synopsis, integration and references are not overdone with ingenious use.
