The National Assembly voted Monday in favor of adding 12 billion euros in credits for the thermal renovation of housing, against the government. If the latter will probably not retain them in the final version of the budget, it is a new setback for the executive deprived of an absolute majority in the Assembly.

The National Assembly voted on the evening of Monday, October 31 to add nearly 12 billion euros in credits for the thermal renovation of housing, left-wing amendments adopted to the chagrin of the government during the examination of the draft budget .

5 million thermal strainers

In a sparse hemicycle on Monday evening, two amendments, environmentalists and socialists, were voted to quadruple the credits for the “MaPrimeRénov” device. The rebellious François Ruffin sees it as a first measure up to the climate challenge: “There are 5 million thermal colanders in the country. Last year, 2,500 were renovated. At this rate, it takes 2,000 years to simply overcome the 5 million thermal sieves. Obviously, you have to gallop, you have to go faster.”

The ranks of the majority denounce a budgetary overbidding orchestrated by the night with the support of the National Rally. “You voluntarily made the choice of the absurd and why did you make this choice? Because there is no alternative majority and the price of the absurd is to obtain the votes of the National Gathering”, indignant the deputy Renaissance David Amiel.

This vote is a new setback for the presidential camp, deprived of an absolute majority. However, the government will most likely brandish 49.3 again in the coming days, which will allow it to set aside these amendments.
