Marianne and Michael Hartl are currently on their farewell tour. This will take longer than planned.

The folk music couple Marianne (71) and Michael Hartl (74) are planning additional dates for the farewell tour that is currently underway. The last performance should be at the end of April – As the Munich “Abendzeitung” reports, there are now additional farewell dates in Bavaria “due to high demand”. According to the newspaper, Marianne Hartl said: “Our fans celebrate us incredibly, which gives us joy, goosebumps and gratitude. But many were also really angry and complained about why we weren’t coming to Bavaria. That will now be the case in November – And of course we’re very happy about that.” They still want to announce the exact dates.

But before that there is still a break. “No matter what happens, July is for us,” explains Marianne Hartl, according to the “Abendzeitung”. “We will travel from northern to southern Croatia with our motorboat. What an adventure.”

Farewell has been decided for a long time

The folk music duo, which has been on stage together for around 50 years, announced on the “NDR Talkshow” in autumn 2022 that they wanted to withdraw from the public. After the final performances, the two want to enjoy life. Also in an interview with the “Bild” newspaper At the end of last year, Marianne revealed how much she and her husband were looking forward to the time after the final tour. “We want to live! I’ll be 71, Michael 75. Lots of friends and colleagues are dying around us,” the singer said at the time. “We no longer want to sacrifice our golden years for our careers.” After Michael Hartl’s stroke in March 2022, they realized “how quickly it can happen and how valuable the time together is.”

The couple met in 1973 at a performance in Munich’s “Platzl” and started a career together. They married in 1979 and had two sons.
