This Wednesday, February 9, Le Monde revealed that Sarah Knafo, the advisor and current companion of Eric Zemmour, took part in a secret meeting with Marine Le Pen, a few hours before the debate between the two rounds of 2017 presidential elections.
On May 3, 2017, a few hours before the start of his face-to-face with Emmanuel Macron for the between-two-rounds debate, Marine Le Pen was visited by an astonishing trio: Henri Guaino, Gilbert Collard and Sarah Knafo. One meeting kept secret until now but that Le Monde has chosen to reveal this Wednesday, February 9. This is how we learn that Sarah Knafo, current adviser and companion of Eric Zemmour, had come to lend a hand to Marine Le Pen, the main political opponent of the former polemicist.
But these revelations somewhat embarrassed the main protagonists of this secret interview. The journalists of Le Monde indeed indicate that Louis Aliot, Henri Guaino and Gilbert Collard had initially confirmed the presence of the young woman, before reconsider their declarations just before the publication of the article. We do not know, however, what role she played during this meeting, even if the main objective was known: to manage to destabilize Emmanuel Macron to emerge victorious from the face-to-face. Thus, Henri Guaino would have proposed to Marine Le Pen not to approach this duel as a sportswoman would. “Activists want blood. But a debate is not a boxing match, we don’t care who the opponent is. We talk to those who are listening.”

It should also be noted that among the 3 people who took part in this meeting, two have now joined Eric Zemmour’s camp: Sarah Knafo, and Gilbert Collard. The latter, at the origin of this meeting, was for a long time one of the main lieutenants of Marine Le Pen. Her departure was therefore experienced as a real betrayal for the president of the National Rally, as she had confided in Sunday in politics on January 23: “What touches me is the way it’s done. […] Not being able to pick up your phone to tell the person who got you elected, ‘I made the decision to go to a competitor’ in the middle of the presidential campaign, moreover, it’s really deplorable”.
