We’ve been waiting for a new Mario Kart for a long time, and it may well be that this year is finally the right one. According to an analyst, Mario kart 9 will be revealed during the year and will propose changes that will shake up habits.
Mario Kart and GTA, same fight
let’s remember that Mario kart 8 was released in 2014 on Wii U before releasing on Switch in a Deluxe version. We put aside the Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit in augmented reality which is a bit special. Fun and timeless racing game par excellence, it is one of Nintendo’s most solid titles in terms of longevity. Even today, he regularly trusts the top sales.
We can then say that Nintendo has no interest in replacing a goose that lays golden eggs which still sells game pallets, and yet, we can imagine that the company probably already has plans for the future. According to forecasts by Dr. Serkan Toto (via gameindustry.biz), an industry analyst, Mario Kart 9 is actively in development:
“I am aware that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still selling very well on Nintendo Switch but Mario Kart 9 is in full development (and comes with a turning point) and Nintendo could teaser it this year”
It is true that one cannot imagine how a concept like Mario Kart could be drastically renewed. This “turning point” could therefore be a major change for the franchise which would broaden horizons. An open world?
Mister Toto is no joke type and based on his predictions from last year, he seems pretty believable. The man also predicts another big Nintendo license on smartphones and tablets.
“On mobile, Nintendo has been very discreet since the Mario Kart Tour launch in 2019 but I think 2022 will be the year when we will see a strong IP arrive on these devices”
All that remains is to cross your fingers and wait for each Nintendo Direct like the one that will tease us the next Mario Kart.
