American actor Mark Margolis has died at the age of 83.
Margolis was best known for his role in the TV series “Breaking Bad”.
As his son, Morgan Margolis, announced on Friday, Mark Margolis died the day before after a short illness in a New York hospital. Manager Robert Kolker confirmed the death of the 83-year-old US actor to the German Press Agency.
Born in Philadelphia in 1939, Mark Margolis learned his craft at well-known acting schools in New York and began his career on the theater stage. His breakthrough came in 1983 with Brian De Palma’s gangster film Scarface. He then appeared in films such as “Black Swan”, “The Wrestler” and “Pi” as well as in TV series such as “Law & Order” and “Spaceship Enterprise”.

He is best known for his role as villain and drug lord Hector Salamanca in the award-winning TV series Breaking Bad and its spin-off Better Call Saul. This earned Margolis an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series in 2012.
