Mark of cutlery on the plates: how to clean them? : Current Woman Le MAG

Often, one can observe gray or black marks that frequently appear on the bottom of the plates. These marks are generally caused by the use of knives, and despite numerous washes, they remain persistent. Other metal objects used during dishwashing can also cause these scratches. Most of the time, these marks get annoying and make the plates look unclean.

The infallible trick spotted on TikTok

On his Tik Tok account, Joel, from his nickname nanananabeedah, explains and demonstrates how he recovered his scratched metal plates. To do the same, wash your plate by running it under running water. Joel then sprinkles it with Bar Keepers Friend, a powdered multi-surface stain remover and cleaner available in the United States or online. It is composed of glass oxide and oxalic acid (or sorrel salt). Then rub your plate with a microfiber cloth. And now, voila !

How to erase scratches on a porcelain plate?

The method of using paste pure toothpaste is as convenient as it is simple. Lightly dampen a soft cloth. Apply a layer of toothpaste to the soaked cloth. Run the cloth over the scratches on the bottom of the porcelain plates to erase them. Rinse to complete the process.

For the technique using a powder detergent like CIF, sprinkle a small amount of powder onto a lightly dampened microfiber cloth. Pass the prepared cloth over the marks to be erased. Rinse it all off.

You can also opt for the clay stone method. Apply an adequate amount of clay stone to a damp sponge. Gently rub in circular motions over unwanted scratches on porcelain plates. Finish by rinsing.

Another useful tip to know

To ensure adequate cleaning of the plates concerned while ensuring their thorough degreasing and appropriate drying, you can prepare a product specially designed for the stainless steel cleaning. Apply a small amount of this product to a dedicated cloth. Gently scrub the bottom of the plates using small circular motions similar to those used to polish furniture with wax. Unwanted marks will begin to fade gradually. Once they are completely gone, do an additional wash of the plates using dish soap and clean water. It is also recommended to put the plates in the dishwasher after you have successfully removed the gray and black scratches present on the bottom of the plates.
