Market: Poland buys Saab grenade launchers for 1.51 billion euros

WARSAW (Reuters) – Poland has signed an agreement to purchase anti-tank grenade launchers from Swedish Saab for an amount of around 6.5 billion zlotys (1.51 billion euros), the minister announced on Monday of Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.

Poland will devote nearly 4% of its gross domestic product (GDP) to defense this year, in the context of the war between Russia and Ukraine.

“The Polish armed forces will receive anti-tank grenade launchers produced in Sweden, and we are allocating about 6.5 billion zlotys for this purpose,” Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said at a press conference, adding that this armament had made proof of its effectiveness in Ukraine.

The agreement concerns the Carl-Gustaf M4 grenade launcher, intended to combat all types of modern combat vehicles.

The Polish Defense Minister added that the contract provided for several thousand grenade launchers and several hundred thousand rounds of ammunition.
