Market: Tesla Achieves Record Fourth Quarter Deliveries

(Reuters) – Tesla released historic and better-than-expected quarterly deliveries on Sunday as the U.S. auto group ramped up production in China despite the global semiconductor shortage.

The group delivered 308,600 vehicles in the fourth quarter, which is well above the forecasts of analysts who expected an average of 263,026 vehicles.

The automaker thus continues its sixth consecutive quarter of record deliveries.

Tesla’s deliveries in the October-December period increased by around 70% year-on-year and nearly 30% compared to the third quarter.

Tesla has ramped up production in China despite increased competition, regulatory pressure following consumer safety complaints and the global shortage of microchips.

For the whole of 2021, Tesla saw its deliveries climb to 936,172, which represents an increase of 87% over one year.
