A bracelet once worn by Marlene Dietrich brought in a proud sum of 4.5 million US dollars.
Marlene Dietrich’s (1901-1992) iconic Van Cleef & Arpels ruby and diamond bracelet has sold for $4.5 million in New York. On June 7th, it went under the hammer at Christie’s auction “The Magnificent Jewels of Anne Eisenhower”.

Marlene Dietrich had the bracelet called “Jarretière” according to the auction house Commissioned by the French jewelry house in 1937. She wore it in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1950 film Red Lola and at the 1951 Academy Awards.
Anne Eisenhower (1949-2022) acquired the piece of jewelery in 1992 directly from Marlene Dietrich’s estate. The granddaughter of the 34th President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890-1969), was a passionate jewelry collector. After her death, “Christie’s” brought more than 30 pieces up for auction. A total of 11.5 million US dollars came together. Marlene Dietrich’s bracelet achieved the highest price.

“This bracelet is legendary in many ways,” said Claibourne Poindexter, vice president and jewelry specialist at Christie’s. according to “The Hollywood Reporter” said in March. At that time the auction was announced. The bracelet has a wonderful curvature and is very large. “It’s not Art Deco jewelry. It’s not retro jewelry. It’s just a kind of high glamour. It’s really a work of art in its own right.” The bracelet was one of Dietrich’s favorite pieces of jewelry. It has not been announced who can look forward to it now.
