Moderator Jan Hahn passed away unexpectedly. His long-time colleague Marlene Lufen mourns the loss of an “insanely sensitive” person.

The German presenter Jan Hahn (1973-2021) died at the age of 47 as a result of cancer. as announced by its broadcaster RTL. Marlene Lufen (50), a long-time colleague of Hahn’s presenter, takes a video message, also published by the broadcaster, Farewell.

It is difficult for her to find words in this situation, explains Lufen. She wanted to let people know “how great he was”. He was “just a guy who didn’t exist a second time”. The moderation or reports with Hahn would have “given her so much pleasure”. In addition, she wanted to emphasize that he was an “insanely sensitive person”.

“A very special person”

Hahn was very “profound” and had given a lot of thought. The moderator had to cope with a lot in his life, “but it turned into a very, very creative, very special person, with an incredible number of talents.” Lufen is “infinitely sad,” she explains with tears. But she is also very grateful to Hahn that he was her moderation partner and that she was able to “develop at his side, into the person I have become”.

Hahn and Lufen had moderated the “Sat.1 breakfast television” for a long time. He later switched to “Guten Morgen Deutschland” on RTL. His colleagues there also said goodbye on Friday. “His death came as a surprise to all of us,” explained Maurice Gajda (37) in the program, which also showed special moments with Hahn. Susanna Ohlen (38), who moderated with Hahn for four years, said: “Everything here really reminds me of him. I am incredibly grateful for all the beautiful moments. I would have loved to have had more time with him.”
