Surrounding buildings evacuated
“80 firefighters are mobilized on site”, where the “fire has been brought under control”, specified the same source, adding that around twenty people who were in the building affected by the fire and the surrounding buildings were were evacuated and brought to safety. “Intervention in progress in the 4th arrondissement – Boulevard Pardigon / Avenue Chutes Lavie. Avoid the area”, posted on X (ex-Twitter) the mayor of Marseille Benoît Payan, who went to the scene of the disaster.
“Several buildings were evacuated and city services mobilized to urgently ensure the care of residents and their accommodation,” noted the town hall in a press release, adding that a school had been opened to “welcome residents evacuated during rehousing. “A security perimeter has been set up in the adjacent streets”, completes the press release, specifying that the fire is now “under control”.
