An important pillar of Burgenland society is the Austrian Armed Forces. Traditionally, a particularly large number of men do their military service in Burgenland. Public oaths were part of the public image until two years ago. But then Corona came and changed everything. Yesterday, Thursday, friends and relatives were allowed to be there again for the first time when 38 recruits vowed to “protect my fatherland, the Republic of Austria, and its people and to defend them with arms!” Premiere – much to the surprise of those present. Recruit Pascal Beisteiner (20) proposed to his girlfriend Brigitte Schrancz (22) in the presence of his comrades and the public. The completely surprised woman from Central Burgenland was overwhelmed with joy and accepted the proposal wished the two young people a happy future and God’s blessings on their marriage.
