Martine Froger, dissident of the PS, joins the Liot group of the Assembly

MArtine Froger is no longer an orphan of a political group. After being suspended by the PS, the ex-socialist had to show pledges of “loyalty” to integrate the left-wing group into the National Assembly. But she apparently did not wish to respond and sent an official request to the independent group Liot, which responded favorably. “Martine Froger confirmed her request to join the group yesterday (Monday). We had a discussion in a group meeting this morning” to validate it, Bertrand Pancher told the press.

This formalization comes more than a month after his election, and after many talks. On April 2, Martine Froger won in the second round of a partial legislative against the outgoing LFI Bénédicte Taurine, officially supported by the LFI-EELV-PS-PCF union, in what appeared to be a war of the left.

Martine Froger was looking for “a group with freedom of speech and tone”

The independent group Liot, where four PS deputies already disagreed with the Nupes, including another elected Ariège, held out their arms to him.

“She needed to clarify with her political family” the situation and “wanted to be able to sit in a group with freedom of speech, freedom of tone, which defends the territories”, affirmed Laurent Panifous, second deputy of Ariège and member of Liot, a group also made up of centrist, Corsican and overseas elected officials.

The PS group had asked Martine Froger for pledges of “loyalty to be able to integrate it into its midst, and had reminded her that being a member of the group implied being a member of Nupes, an alliance formed upstream of the last legislative elections.

Martine Froger had for her part called on the Socialists not to “be subject to the Insoumis” and to create an alliance “more open” than the Nupes. The deputy was not present Tuesday in Paris. She was injured a week ago and cannot walk for another five weeks.
