Marvel: 1st photos of Captain America 4 with Anthony Mackie as successor to Chris Evans

Finally some first photos of Captain America 4! Filming has just started with Chris Evans’ successor, Anthony Mackie.

Captain America 4 is fast approaching! Captain America: New World Order, that’s its title, will arrive in our cinemas in just over a year, on May 1, 2024.

It will therefore be part of Phase V of the MCU, which Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has just launched. The chosen slot suggests that this is a film in which Marvel Studios places great expectations, since it is in these waters that all the Avengers, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness or even Civil War came out.

Marvel: after Ant-Man 3, when are the next Phase 5 films coming out?

It is therefore an understatement to say that the first photos of the film are expected. Filming has just begun, and a preview of Chris Evans’ successor Anthony Mackie has been revealed. We do not yet see him in his costume, however.

Little information has filtered on the synopsis of this new component. But it is already certain that the scenario will be a continuation of Falcon and the Winter Soldier and will revolve around the transfer of power between Steve and Sam, in a world that has changed in more ways than one. .

The “New World Order” which serves as a subtitle for this adventure can then designate several things. The fact in particular that Captain America is now a black man, a theme already interviewed in the series and putting Sam to grips with his new status and the condition of African-Americans in his country.

The new world will also be the post-Endgame one, as the Avengers search for their new leaders and the threat of Kang looms ever larger over the universe.

And this could, finally, refer to the fact that the United States will henceforth be governed by a man capable of transforming himself into a red monster. If he is only Secretary of State in the comic books, Thaddeus Ross will become President here, and having Harrison Ford in the role will make a nice nod to the one he held in Air Force One.

Captain America 4: Anthony Mackie learned the news thanks to a fan

Anthony Mackie will play the main role, succeeding Chris Evans. But a priori without Bucky ‘Winter Soldier’ Barnes (Sebastian Stan), requisitioned on the side of the Thunderbolts towards which New World Order should draw up some bridges.

Seen in the Disney+ series, the first African-American super soldier Isaiah Bradley will also be there, in the guise of Carl Lumbly. Just like Danny Ramirez, back in Joaquin Torres, called to become the new Falcon.

Still in the category of returns, but much more unexpected: that of Tim Blake Nelson. Absent from the MCU since his role in The Incredible Hulk, the actor of O’Brother will find his character of Samuel Sterns, cell biologist called to become the super villain Leader, after an exposure to gamma rays which should affect another character who returns as well, but with a new face.

Following the death of William Hurt, who played him since The Incredible Hulk, it was Harrison Ford who took over the role of Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross. Which will turn into his gigantic and angry alter ego: Red Hulk.

In this film or in Thunderbolts, we don’t know yet, but this idea intrigues many people, including his future partners who laugh when imagining him wearing a performance capture suit, with sensors resembling bullets of table tennis.

Finally, note, on the side of the newcomers, that the revelation of the Unorthodox mini-series Shira Haas will play the Israeli superheroine Sabra (who could be a Mossad agent in the story). And that Xosha Roquemore (The Mindy Project) will play a role that has not yet been revealed.

The film will be directed by Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox).
