In 15 years of existence, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has offered spectators a large number of characters, whether superheroes or their adversaries. But do you know the first names of Captain America, Hawkeye or the Black Widow?
In around fifteen years of existence and thirty-two films released on the big screen since Jon Favreau’s Iron Man released in 2008 and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 released last May, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been able to offer spectators with an impressive gallery of characters, the vast majority of them from comics that pre-existed their adaptation to the big screen.
The very first Iron Man film, for example, allowed us to discover this famous eponymous character, played by Robert Downey Jr., but also the first supervillain of this franchise with Iron Monger played by Jeff Bridges, as well as the first appearance of Nick Fury in the post-credits scene.
This was followed by The Incredible Hulk the same year with Edward Norton, before Mark Ruffalo took over the role, then the introduction of two new superheroes in 2011 with Thor and Captain America: First Avenger.
But we will have to wait until 2012 to see the reunion of all these leading characters in Joss Whedon’s Avengers, and at the same time find other faces like those of The Black Widow who already appeared in Iron Man 2, or Hawkeye who we could see in Thor.
The following years will see new heroes appear exponentially, to name just a few, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, without forgetting the merry band of Guardians of the Galaxy.
