Marvel’s Wolverine: Insomniac Games speaks out following the theft of game data

It’s hard to miss this news as it caused so much noise, Insomniac Games was the victim of a criminal attack by a group of hackers, resulting in the theft of numerous data, whether they concern the studio’s employees or its games. We thus became aware of the various projects to come until 2030. But the worst, apart from employees’ personal information of course, concerns Marvel’s Wolverine, whose assets actually gave rise to the creation of a playable version on PCas reported for example GamesRadar. We shouldn’t have to specify it, but given the times we live in… the game is obviously not planned for computers, at least in the near future, but is being developed on it, hence this build which circulates and which is undoubtedly not without risk, viruses being able to hide there. And that’s without mentioning the problems of illegality sinceit seems thata notice of DMCA was sent in the United States to a subscriber to Comcast (Internet provider) who downloaded the game. Before the end of year holidays, the studio still took the floor to take stock, sharing a long message on Twitter / X.

There’s no question of letting yourself be defeated or disrupting the marketing campaign around the game to officially show it before its time, sinceit is only at the beginning of its developmentwhich coincides with the information that it would not be released until the end of 2026. Insomniac also take this opportunity to thank the players who shared warm messages during this troubled time for the studio.

Thank you for this outpouring of compassion and your unwavering support. It is deeply appreciated.

We are both saddened and angry about the recent criminal cyberattack against our studio and the emotional toll it has had on our development team. We have been focusing internally these past few days on supporting each other.

We are aware that the stolen data includes personal information belonging to our employees, former employees and self-employed workers. It also includes the first details of the development of Marvel’s Wolverine for PlayStation 5. We continue to work quickly to determine what data has been impacted.

This experience was extremely painful for us.

We want everyone to enjoy the games we develop as intended and as our players deserve. However, like Logan… Insomniac is resilient. Marvel’s Wolverine continues as planned. The game is in early production and will undoubtedly evolve considerably throughout development, like all our projects.

While we appreciate everyone’s enthusiasm, we will share official information on Marvel’s Wolverine when the time comes.

On behalf of everyone at Insomniac, thank you for your continued support during this difficult time.

In short, all that remains is to let development continue, while crossing our fingers not to come across any spoilers while browsing the Web.

The still recent Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is available for sale at the price of €61.95 on Amazon and will be entitled to an update early next year.
