This Monday, December 6, at the end of the defense council, the government announced the implementation of new restrictions, what is happening to children?
In France as in the world, the Covid-19 epidemic continues to progress. According to figures published on the website of Public health this Monday, December 6, 2021, there are more than 42,000 new contaminations in France over the last few days. Faced with this fifth meteoric wave, the government implemented new restrictions following a Health Defense Council: “vigilance measures, without giving in to panic”, as explained by Jean Castex. “We are at higher levels than what we have experienced in previous waves”, said the Prime Minister.
Indeed, unlike previous waves, children are now among the main affected by Covid-19. On December 3, the number of coronavirus cases in schools hit a record high, with more than 33,000 students testing positive, while the incidence rate among 6-10 year olds soars, with 955 cases per 100,000 residents.
To fight against this spread, Jean Castex and the Minister of Health Olivier Véran announced a change of protocol in schools from this Thursday, December 9, specifying that colleges and high schools will remain at level 2.
Level 3 protocol for primary schools
Sanitary standards had already been strengthened at the beginning of November, from Thursday, the protocol will now pass to level 3, with several consequences, one of which is the main one:return to wearing a mask, compulsory for all first grade students in final year classes, indoors and outdoors, as well as for all teachers and educational staff. This stage of restriction also limits sports activities with contacts.
The lockers also harden slightly for catering hours “as far as possible ”. Indeed, the government is asking for a “group stability ” of students during meals. Particular attention is paid to first-degree students, where “The non-mixing between students of different classes must be observed during the catering”. “Bulk food offers are prohibited”, specifies Jean-Michel Blanquer.
The High Authority for Health said it was in favor of the vaccination of the most fragile children, obese or affected by certain diseases (heart, respiratory, etc.), reserving its opinion for others. The vaccination of all children could still start as early as December 20.
