Mask requirement – University of Vienna in the summer semester without G-rules

At the beginning of the summer semester, the University of Vienna is abolishing all G-Rules and is generally returning to face-to-face operations. For the time being, the mask requirement remains in place in all indoor spaces – with the exception of speakers and other speeches. However, there are no uniform admission rules at all universities in the state.

From March 1st, students will no longer have to prove whether they have been vaccinated, recovered or tested in order to take part in courses. Nevertheless, everyone is asked to take advantage of the test offers or to get a booster vaccination. The infection case notification via the service desk of the university remains in place. However, the measures should be checked on an ongoing basis and any changes communicated immediately, according to the Rectorate in relation to the APA.2G rule, currently only at the University of Klagenfurt. The other universities in the state are also planning almost continuous classroom teaching in the summer semester. The universities decide autonomously on the admission requirements. There will be no uniform line for the admission requirements – keyword 2G. A 2G rule currently only exists at the University of Klagenfurt, at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) such a rule will come into force in the summer semester. The university senates recently called for a nationwide uniform 2G rule at the universities, while the university union rejected this idea as disproportionate.
