Mass Effect 5 victim of a new leak, it pleases the fans a lot

Lately, Mass Effect 5 wiped the bad news. The latest rumor should reassure historical fans, but it could well be divisive.

The hope of one day being able to play Mass Effect 5 is gradually diminishing. The BioWare studio is in turmoil and this directly impacts the development of this fifth opus. Priority is given to the Dragon Age 4 project which is far from over. As for that of the new Mass Effect, it is still in the pre-production phase. One thing’s for sure, it’s not set to release until 2025-2026 at the earliest. Nevertheless, a rumor has given us a small idea of what is going on for this sequel. It will please some and on the contrary disappoint others.

Mass Effect 5, classic or modern?

Even though the development of Mass Effect 5 is at an impasse, that doesn’t mean the developers haven’t thought about its content. Inevitably, the theories on the form that this new adventure will take are going well. Some think that like Andromeda, the new episode will propose to evolve in an open world. However, according to a rumor heard by Jez Corden, we would rather be dealing with a return to a more linear formula. The same one that we could find in the trilogy featuring Commander Shepard.

I heard that the new Mass Effect won’t be open-world, but will revert to the series’ classic format. I don’t know if these rumors are 100% accurate, given the current stage of development.

All of this should therefore be taken with a grain of salt, especially since the identity of the source has not been revealed. However, this information can give rise to an interesting debate: should the Mass Effect license return to a more classic formula or should it continue on the open world path? This is a question that will undoubtedly divide the community, in theory at least. The majority seems more than in favor of a return to the sources on this side, the formula opted for by Andromeda not having convinced. However, we are not ready to have the answer, so it is better to be patient and wait for an official announcement from the studio.

BioWare worries the community

A week ago, theinsider well-informed Jeff Grubb brought us some less than reassuring news on the BioWare situation. His sources would indicate that Dragon Age 4 Dreadwolf would not be released until next summer, at least. In addition, several members of the team working on Mass Effect 5 would have been sent to the rescue at the Dreadwolf construction site. To make matters worse, the studio recently suffered a very violent wave of layoffs. Among those thanked, emblematic figures of BioWare who worked on these two cult franchises such as Lukas Kristjanson or Mary Kirby.
