Cinema journalist

Cradled from an early age by New Hollywood cinema, Vincent Formica very early discovered the works of Martin Scorsese, Coppola, De Palma and Steven Spielberg. Thanks to these cinema godfathers, he will learn to love the 7th art deeply, forging an eclectic cinephilia.

In the early 2000s, The Matrix spawned many parodies. But do you remember Will Ferrell’s one that aired on MTV the year Matrix Reloaded was released?

Scary Movie, Shrek, La Tour Montparnasse Infernale, Les Allumé … all these feature films contain a parody of the Matrix saga. At the start of the 2000s, the Wachowski trilogy made such an impact on people’s minds that we see sequences sprouting up everywhere pasticating different scenes from the films, especially those using bullet time.

A monument of pop culture, Matrix was a real revolution in its time, now joining the pantheon of the great classics of SF. In 2003, during the MTV Movie Awards, Will Ferrell, Sean William Scott and Justin Timberlake delivered one of the best parodies of the franchise.

Grimaced with the beard and the white hair of the Architect, Ferrell is having a blast by caricaturing the famous sequence of Matrix Reloaded.

THE PARODY

In this scene, Neo meets the Architect, a mysterious character played by the Australian Helmut Bakaitis. By playing with the editing, Will Ferrell thus answers Neo’s questions, accompanied by the two funny people on duty, Sean William Scott and Justin Timberlake, who also find themselves propelled into key scenes from Reloaded.

THE REAL SEQUENCE

Resurrections, released in theaters on December 22, will it arouse such incredible enthusiasm? Only the future will tell us.
