Actor celebrates his mother’s 90th birthday

Matthew McConaughey congratulated his mother on her 90th birthday. He dedicated a loving message to her on Instagram.
Matthew McConaughey (52) has dedicated a loving birthday post to his mother Kay. The actor shared on Instagram on Friday (January 7th) a photo of the 90-year-olds. In the shot, Kay wears a pleated blouse in earth tones, a tiara and a sash that reads “90 and fabulous”. “Mama McConaughey at 90 today – alive with joy, forgiveness, resistance and ‘can’t imagine not being here’. Happy birthday, mom,” wrote the 52-year-old.
In the comments, numerous fans left their congratulations for Kay McConaughey. “All the best, Mama Mac. It is a wonderful gift for all of us,” commented one user. “Wow! If 90 really looks like that, then I want it too,” wrote another. Acting colleague Jennifer Garner (49) also congratulated McConaughey’s mother: “Happy birthday to the coolest mom!”
McConaughey wasn’t always on good terms with his mother
Matthew and Kay McConaughey now have a good relationship. In an episode of the “Red Table Talk” from 2020 the mother-son team revealed that this was not always the case. “I couldn’t talk to her like a mother for eight years,” said the Dallas Buyers Club star at the time. The reason for this was that Kay began to pass on private information about her son to the press in the 90s.
The author admitted that she enjoyed her son’s fame more than he did himself. Only when she began to respect his boundaries and his privacy did the relationship improve again.
