(CercleFinance.com) – Mauna Kea Technologies announced Thursday that it has completed the recruitment of the first patient called to participate in its clinical trial in lung cancer.
The study is to focus on Cellvizio, its probe and needle confocal laser endomicroscopy (p/nCLE) platform, which will be combined with the Ion technology developed by Intuitive Surgical.
The objective of the study is to evaluate the ability of nCLE to improve diagnostic yield and accuracy of confirmation of lesion targeting, as well as lesion sampling, during robotic-assisted bronchoscopy procedures.
Mauna Kea explains that it wants to measure the ability of this combination to improve the doctor’s ability to quickly and precisely position a biopsy tool in the center of peripheral pulmonary nodules.
This study will include 118 patients at two US sites, the Mayo Clinic campus in Jacksonville (Florida) and the Mayo Clinic campus in Rochester (Minnesota).
