“Maximum controls” – Salzburg police are hunting down corona sinners

The land stands still again! All of Austria starts today in the fourth lockdown including strict exit restrictions. The police are now increasingly on the move in Salzburg as well. Support comes from police students. For the time being, however, there are only penalties for particularly stubborn lockdown refusers.

“We control to the maximum extent,” said the police. However, it is clear: whether and to what extent Salzburg will adhere to the lockdown, including strict exit restrictions, is difficult to check. From now on you can only leave your own four walls to shop, work, relax or help the neighborhood. “However, we focus on raising awareness during the controls. There are only penalties for those who are particularly inconsiderate and repeat offenders, ”says Chief Inspector Hans Wolfgruber. This has always been done in the past. There will be increased controls again at the borders – but only on a random basis. Crossing borders is not generally prohibited in times of tough lockdown. Grocery shopping in neighboring Bavaria, for example, is possible at any time. “That is not forbidden,” says Wolfgruber. On the other hand, it is not allowed to buy clothes or shoes. According to the Ministry of the Interior, almost 1000 police students are now strengthening the executive on their Corona control drives. These can be used as a “reserve”, it said.
